Pipe Laying Mooring System (Not in use)

Pipe Laying Mooring System (Not in use)

Our mooring system is design to suite the dynamic, continuous and fast-paced pipe laying operations. The mooring system, consisting of multiple winches, must work in a coherent manner. At the same time, the mooring system must be energy efficiently compared to other winches, as these works non-stop and any energy savings translates into significant OPEX for the charterer.

Most of the system have traditionally been delivered with hydraulic drive system. For our system, we recommend them with electrical drives due to a higher efficiency of the drive systems. At the same time we are also able to capture generated energy from dynamic braking winches and utilise this on the winches which are undergoing pulling in operations. These translates into smaller installed power. The option of electrical drives brings about lesser risk of hydraulic oil leakage to the environment and the benefit of less frequent and easier drive maintenance.

In addition to the normal pull in/pay out operation, the winches are equipped with high speed drag brake system, which are tailored to the unique operational needs, taking into account the assisting anchor-handler speed/capabilities and the water depth.

As an option, each winch is equipped with a synchronised, but independently driven spooling system. This allows any spooling adjustment to be made on the fly during operations to compensate for any spooling errors which may arise with wear of the ropes. The spooling device is also compatible for the high speed wire rope payout via drag brake.

The entire mooring system evolves around a central control system and HMI where the coordinated winch operation, wire spooling and drive system monitoring can be controlled from a centralized locality.

Mooring line tension readout are taken off sheaves with installed load pins or winch base mounted with load pins. These provide the most accurate tension readout as they do not require real-time compensation calculations. Alternatively, the tension can also be taken off the winch system.

The winch is also fitted with rope length payout sensing system

If required, the mooring system can be delivered with the necessary guide sheaves and fairleaders.
