Storage Winch (Not in use)
Storage winch are used for the purpose of storage. These can be used on a variety of vessel type. On merchant vessels, they are used to store mooring ropes. On Anchor-handlers they are used to store permanent mooring lines, which can either be chain, wire or UHMPE ropes. On offshore construction, they can be used to store lifting lines for traction winch system.
As such, we have different design catering for differing needs. Above photos shows a storage winch with capacity for 6000m of diameter 136mm steel wire rope used for abandonment and recovery purpose. The equipment is engineering and built together with REEL IMECA, who has contracted the total system for A&R system. The storage winch is sized to provide sufficient back tension to support the main tensioning system.
For Anchor-handlers, the storage winch (or commonly known as secondary winch) is used to store mooring lines which will be used by offshore platforms. These winch are sized to deploy the mooring lines directly and hence they may be equivalent in duty pull to a small anchor-handling ranging from 120T to 150T pull.
A combination of the following features can be incorporated in accordance with operational needs.
- Remote wheelhouse monitoring and controls
- Wireless control system
- Spooling system
- Dynamic braking enabled drive system
